The Los Angeles Kings jersey has been a topic of discussion, both good and bad (especially when it comes to the Burger King jersey). However, it seems fans might have something more to talk about in the coming weeks as they are reportedly getting ready to release a new alternate jersey.
According to Mayor's Manor, the Kings were hoping to release it during the 2025 NHL Draft, which was held in Los Angeles, and truthfully might have been the most exciting thing in what was an awkward presentation of the draft this year. The Kings elected to wait on showcasing the new jersey "because full-scale production wasn't up and running."
The article also had some additional pieces of information about what the jersey might look like and what it won't look like. One of the things that it won't be is primarily purple, or Forum Blue, which was a big part of their color scheme when they became a franchise before moving over to silver and black in the late 1980s.
Don't expect the chrome helmets back for the Los Angeles Kings
The article also notes that the Kings are thinking past just the jersey and might showcase a new helmet with this alternate jersey. However, what that helmet won't be is the chrome helmet from a few years ago. The Kings wore this helmet for the first time during the Stadium Series game in 2020 against the Colorado Avalanche.
This was something that was reportedly discussed last summer but the Kings might shift to a different silver type helmet:
"Instead, our sources say they’ve been working to develop a different type of silver helmet; perhaps something akin to what the New England Patriots wear."
This also would not be the first time the Kings have had some connection to the Patriots as the person who designed the Patriots logo also created the King's head on the Burger King jersey from the mid 1990s.
While it may not be the chrome helmet, it is exciting to see the Los Angeles Kings trying different things with their jerseys and helmets. It gives fans a different look and will make the games they wear them more exciting to watch in person.
