The Los Angeles Kings continue to be an excellent team in front of the home crowd with a 2-1 win over the Seattle Kraken on Saturday. The Kings now move to 11-7-3 on the season but 6-2-1 at home.
For the fans in attendance, there was plenty to cheer about and these were some of the top plays from the game against the Kraken.
Alex Turcotte with a beautiful pass to Adrian Kempe for the first goal
It was a rather quiet first period for both teams as there were very few offensive chances. However, things definitely changed in the second period as Adrian Kempe scored his 10th goal of the season.
Where Kempe got the puck, he will rarely miss, and there is nothing that should be taken away from the shot but it was the pass by Alex Turcotte that really made this play special.
Even after the game, Zach Dooley tweeted that Jim Hiller reportedly said that it was "probably his best play he's made" and was one of the best made by the Kings as a whole in a while. Turcotte was on the top line for this game alongside Anze Kopitar and Adrian Kempe and if he continues to make plays like this, he will not be going anywhere.
Trevor Lewis with the hit stick on the Seattle Kraken
Trevor Lewis is quickly approaching his 1,000 NHL game and played in his 995th game on Saturday against the Kraken. However, he certainly didn't look like a player towards the end of his career with a huge hit in the second period down in the Kings zone.
Quinton Byfield gets a big goal for the LA Kings power play
Shortly after Adrian Kempe's goal, the Los Angeles Kings would end up going on the power play. The problem is that it hasn't really been very productive for them as they had only one goal in their last 12 power play chances.
It didn't matter here though as the Kings were able to beat Joey Daccord for the second goal of the game.
It was an awesome play as Fiala would get the puck at the top of the circle and certainly could have shot it from there but made the extra pass down low to Byfield. To Byfield's credit, he did not hesitate and snapped that puck towards the net and was able to beat Daccord high into the top corner.
David Rittich with two incredible saves in the third period for the Los Angeles Kings
David Rittich had a relatively quiet night as he only faced 20 shots and would end up saving 19 of them. The Kraken did make it a game late with a goal in the final two minutes but the Kings were able to close it out in regulation for two points.
However, earlier in the third period the Kraken had a great chance to cut the lead in half as Brandon Montour had not one, but two great shots. David Rittich was locked in though and would save both before the Kings took the puck out of the zone and raced to the other end for a quality scoring chance of their own.
David Rittich has had to step in as the starter after Darcy Kuemper ended up on injured reserve for the second time this season last week. In his last five starts, he is 4-1 and has allowed only six goals during that stretch. The Kings are definitely going to need more of this until Kuemper is ready to return.
