The Los Angeles Kings were coming off their first game of the 2024-25 season where they were shut out after losing to the Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday night 1-0. The Kings were back on the ice Saturday and saw their scoreless streak extended to four periods after a scoreless first period against the Seattle Kraken.
However, that streak would end there after Adrian Kempe scored in the second period off a beautiful pass by Alex Turcotte. This would be Kempe's 10th goal of the season and he would be the first LA Kings' player to reach the double digit mark in that category.
Kempe has been one of the top Kings' goal scorers the past few seasons with 35 in the 2021-22 season, a career-high 41 in the 2022-23 season then 28 this past season.
Adrian Kempe has been hitting up as of late for the Los Angeles Kings
This goal by Adrian Kempe has been a continuation of some excellent hockey as of late. He has 10 goals now on the season but five in the last four games. In the game agaisnt the Colorado Avalanche on the road, Kempe had two goals on four shots in their 4-2 loss to the Avs.
Then in their next game, a home game against the Detroit Red Wings, Kempe had three shots but another two goals as the Kings would go on to win 4-1. It is also worth noting that all five goals over this stretch were even strength goals.
The Los Angeles Kings have been looking for some offense as of late, especially as the power play has struggled, and if Kempe can continue this hot streak it will help keep the Kings near the top of the Pacific Division and make a run at another playoff spot this season.
