In roughly 24 hours, the 2026 NHL Draft lottery will begin with the ceremonies of the first round starting on June 25 in Buffalo.
We're now down to the final position group in our 2026 draft rankings, the goalies. We've already done the top 10 centers, wingers, and defensemen in the 2026 draft class in this past week.
Compared to this past few years, the 2026 draft class lacks top-end goalie depth, though several prospects have intriguing long-term upside. There are some intriguing goalie prospects in this draft class, but I don't know if we'll see any players at this position group picked in the first round of the 2026 draft this upcoming weekend.
These are the five goaltenders most likely to hear their names called early in the 2026 NHL Draft
Teams are commonly hesistant to pick goalies early in the draft. But there are multiple intriguing goalie prospects in this draft class who could develop into quality contributors in the NHL in a few years.
Here's the ranking of the top five goalie prospects in the 2026 NHL Draft class.
5. Michal Orsulak (Prince Albert, WHL)
In this past couple of years, Michal Orsulak has developed into a goalie who helped the Prince Albert Raiders make it all the way to the WHL finals. The Czech goalie and 6-foot-4, and 225-pound 18-year-old Orsulak registered a sparkling 28-4-4 record, a .907 save percentage, and 2.22 goals against average in Prince Albert in the WHL this past season.
He's got the big 6-foot-4 frame, and he plays big in the net, giving him the size that pro scouts want from a modern NHL goalie. Orsulak plays pretty well positionally, and he uses his stick well to disrupt opposing shooters and players in high-danger scoring areas around the net.
The biggest areas of improvement for Orsulak include his rebound control, high-glove, and aggressiveness in committing to play the shooter or the puck in the zone defensively.
Osulak could hear his name called in the second or third round of the draft given that he is one of the best North American goalies in this draft class for 2026.
