Offseason additions make immediate impact for LA Kings in preseason game
The Los Angeles Kings had their second preseason game of the season on Wednesday night and went with a group that was a better representation of what the roster is prmarily going to look like this season. In this group was two offseason additions in Tanner Jeannot and Warren Foegele and both didn't waste time to make an impact.
After Alex Laferriere got the scoring going for the Kings with a goal off an assist by Alex Turcotte, it was Tanner Jeannot's turn. The Kings would get an odd-man rush and after Warren Foegele got the puck, he would drop it back to Jeannot who would rip a shot from the top of the circle to give the Kings a 2-0 lead.
Tanner Jeannot was traded by the Tampa Bay Lighting to the Kings during the NHL Draft and Jeannot will be looking to have a bounce-back season. After a promising start to his career with Nashville, he would only score eight goals in 75 games with the Lighting.
Warren Foegele scores a goal of his own for the Los Angeles Kings
After the Golden Knights cut the lead in half, Warren Foegele would score his own goal and give the Kings a 3-1 lead. That goal by Foegele would end up being the game-winning goal as the Knights would score again later in the game.
The Kings signed Foegele as a free agent after he spent three seasons with the Edmonton Oilers. The hope with Foegele is that he can continue with his momentum after a career season last year with 41 points and these types of plays can do just that.
It wasn't as clean as Jeannot's goal but the end result was the same as Kevin Fiala would send the puck across the net to Quinton Byfield. However, the young center wasn't able to control the puck but Foegele was in the right spot to put the loose puck past the Golden Knights' goalie.
While it is definitely preseason, it is great to see two new additions already in the flow of the offense and making plays.
