The Los Angeles Kings came up short on Monday night in their first preseason game of the year against the Utah Hockey Club. The 3-2 overtime loss should carry an asterik though as it was mostly a younger group of players that likely will not be a factor on the Kings' roster this season.

That is certainly not the case in the second preseason game, which is tonight against the Vegas Golden Knights.

Almost the entire group for tonight's game has played at least some at the NHL level and there are some intriguing storylines with this group. This will be the first game for offseason additions Tanner Jeannot, who the Kings traded for, as well as free agent signing Warren Foegele. The sixth-round draft pick, Jared Woolley, will also play for the Kings for the first time after they selected him in the recent NHL Draft.

It includes younger players trying to establish themselves on a line like Quinton Byfield, Alex Laferriere, and Alex Turcotte, who is particularly noteworthy as he is the only one outside of Carter George who will suit up in the first two preseason games.

Aatu Jamsen is the player to watch closely for the Los Angeles Kings

With the long-term injury for Arthur Kaliyev, it opens the door for a player like Aatu Jamsen to make the Los Angeles Kings roster out of training camp. He has yet to play North American hockey after playing in the Finnish League but he has really generated a lot of momentum over the past few weeks.

It started in the Rookie Faceoff with one goal and one assist in the three-game tournament. If Jamsen wants to secure his spot on the roster, he needs to continue to have strong performances and it can start tonight against the Golden Knight.
