One of the notable trades the Los Angeles Kings made this offseason was with the Tampa Bay Lightning where they sent a fourth-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft and a 2025 second-round pick for forward Tanner Jeannot. Let's take a closer look at the player and where he fits on the Kings for the upcoming season.

What to expect from Tanner Jeannot in the 2024-25 season?

Tanner Jeannot was an undrafted rookie for the Nashville Predator and had a breakout season as a rookie with 24 goals and 17 assists in the 2021-22 season. The Predators would trade Jeannot the following season to the Lightning, which included a 2025 first-round, and 2024 second-round pick as part of a five-pick package.

However, Jeannot never seemed to fit with the Lightning or at least didn't make the impact they would have hoped. In 75 games, Jeannot had only eight goals and 10 assists with a +/- of -16.

The fact that the Los Angeles Kings were able to acquire a player who less than two seasons ago went from five draft picks for only a fourth-round and future second-round pick, is certainly worth the gamble. Jeannot will only be 27 years old this season and still has plenty of hockey ahead of him.

As for where he fits within this offensive attack, at worst he is on the fourth line probably with Alex Turcotte and Akil Thomas. It wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing to have a veteran like Jeannot on that line with younger players.

However, the talent is certainly there and it would be all that surprising if that is not where he is playing by the end of the season.
