One of the players that fans were excited to see was Liam Greentree, mainly because they have yet to see him in a Kings' uniform. The Kings selected Greentree in the first round of the 2024 NHL Draft with the 26th overall pick.

The good news was that fans didn't have to wait long for him to score his first goal with the organization. In the second game of the tournament against Utah Hockey Club, he would score late in the third which cut Utah's lead to only 3-2.

It would only be about a minute later that the Kings would score again and force the game to overtime.

After the game, Greentree was asked about that first goal and said: "I've been really trying to grind for one these past couple of games. So you know finally getting on the board is really nice and then, especially in such a clutch moment is huge."

Liam Greentree could be a great goal scorer for the Los Angeles Kings in a few seasons

While he has already shown some promise, fans likely are going to have to wait until they see him in the NHL. This season, Greentree will most likely return to the Windsor Spitfire in the OHL where he had 36 goals in 64 games this past season.

The hope would be that he might be ready to contribute in 2025-26 for the Ontario Reign and move up to the NHL the season after that. It is absolutely a small sample size but what Greentree showed in the first two games, it is not unrealistic that he could be playing for the Kings in the next three seasons.
