The Los Angeles Kings ended the month of November on a high note after a disastrous performance against the San Jose Sharks. After giving up five goals in the third period and losing 7-2, the Kings would end up winning their final three games and securing their first three-game win streak of the season.
They certainly need that momentum heading into December as they will be on the road for a significant portion of the month. In total, they have 11 games in the final month of 2024 with seven straight on the road.
Even though it is early in the season, the good news though is that they are in great position within the Pacific Division and have also given themselves a great chance at the playoffs.
NHL Pacific Division standings entering December
Vegas Golden Knights (33 points)
Los Angeles Kings (31 points)
Vancouver Canucks (29 points)
Edmonton Oilers (28 points)
Calgary Flames (28 points)
Anaheim Ducks (23 points)
Seattle Kraken (23 points)
San Jose Sharks (23 points)
The three game win streak helped keep the Los Angeles Kings near the top of the Pacific Division with 31 points and only two points behind the Vegas Golden Knights. While they are second in points, they have played two more games than the Vancouver Canucks and one more than the Edmonton Oilers but the points percentage for those three teams are almost identical.
Los Angeles Kings Playoff Odds: 90.4%
According to MoneyPuck, the Los Angeles Kings currently have playoff odds that are over 90%, which is the seventh best odds in the entire NHL. What is interesting about these playoff odds, is that they have the highest among any Pacific Division team.
They also have the Kings with 35.7% odds to win the Pacific Division, which would be pretty historic as they haven't won the division since the 1990-91 season. As inconsistent as the Kings have been this season, they are still in a great spot to reach the playoffs for a fourth straight season. However, there is plenty of hockey left to be played and how they navigate this road trip in December could be a good indication of what the second half of the season holds.
