December is usually a festive time of year but for the Los Angeles Kings it will require them to spend an extended period on the road. They began the season on the road with seven straight road games to open the 2024-25 season and now have another seven-game road trip in December.
This won't be an easy month because on top of playing seven out of their 11 games this month on the road, they have six games against teams that are in the top half of the league in points entering the month.
Let's take a look ahead for the month of December and predict how many points they will secure heading into the new year.
Los Angeles Kings schedule in December
12/4 - vs. Dallas Stars
12/7 - vs. Minnesota Wild
12/10 - at New York Islanders
12/12 - at New Jersey Devils
12/14 - at New York Rangers
12/17 - at Pittsburgh Penguins
12/19 - at Philadelphia Flyers
12/21 - at Nashville Predators
12/22 - at Washington Capitals
12/28 - vs. Edmonton Oilers
12/29 - vs. Philadelphia Flyers
Predicting how many points Los Angeles Kings have in December: 14 points
While it is a tough stretch, this Kings team has a chance to grab 14 points out of a possible 22 and that is 63% points percentage. This is about where the Kings have been for most of the season but it will be important for them to win the games they should (and this unfortunately has been the challenge).
The games that they almost have to win is against the Pittsburgh Penguins, Nashville Predators, and both games against the Philadelphia Flyers. That is eight points right there and they should also be able to get a win against a New York Rangers team that has struggled.
If the Kings can secure four points against the Dallas Stars, Minnesota Wild, New York Islanders, New Jersey Devils, Washington Capitals, and Edmonton Oilers, that will get them to that 14 mark. A long road trip like this is never easy but it is pretty manageable with only one back-to-back the entire month.
In the end, if this is the point total the Kings have in this month they should feel pretty confident heading into 2025 with more home games to close the regular season and the return of Drew Doughty.
