Update: After the publication of this article, it was reported that the Los Angeles Kings have placed Arthur Kaliyev on waivers. If he is not claimed, Kaliyev will return to the Kings organization and be assigned to the Ontario Reign in which case this trade scenario would still be a possibility.
The NHL Trade Deadline is less than two months away and for the Los Angeles Kings the focus is to improve a team that is already pretty good. The Kings are keeping pace with the Golden Knights for the Pacific Division and appear poised to make the playoffs for the fourth straight season.
There is no question that the Kings should be buyers and the focus is to build a roster that is well-rounded and able to handle any injuries or issues that arise. One potential concern that could derail the Kings playoff chances is at goalie.
Entering this season, the Kings had some questions after replacing Cam Talbot with Darcy Kuemper, who was coming off a down season with the Washington Capitals. The good news is that the performance of Kuemper has eliminated that concern as he is playing exceptionally as of late with a record of 7-0-2 over the past nine games.
The reason that the Kings might want to look at veteran goaltenders is because of Kuemper's durability as he has already landed on the injured reserve list twice this season. This is also after playing only 33 games in his final season with the Capitals.
