The LA Kings had a 2-1 lead after the first period in what was already the most offensive first period of the season for the Kings. However, the second period took it to another level as the Kings and Senators combined for seven goals in just 20 minutes of game time.

The scoring began in the second period, with Adrian Kempe scoring a power play goal just over five minutes into the period. It almost wasn't the first goal of the period as Brandt Clarke scored but it was later overturned after review.

At that point, the Kings had a 3-1 lead before the Senators responded with a goal by Zack MacEwen however the Kings got their two goal lead back less than a minute later with a goal by Alex Laferriere.

It would be the Senators turn to respond and they would not score just one but two goals in a span of 19 seconds. The first goal was by Drake Batherson when the Senators were on a power play followed by Thomas Chabot that would tie the game at four.

The game wasn't tied very long as the Kings would have a power play of their own and Kevin Fiala would add his second goal of the game. Fiala opened the scoring in the first period with a goal, also on a power play. It would also be the third assist for Brandt Clarke in this game.

The lead for the Kings didn't last that much longer as Zack MacEwen added his second goal of the period that would be the final goal of the period and the two teams would be tied at five heading into the third period.

While it has been a back-and-forth game, this is a game that the Kings should win. It is the third game of a seven game road trip to start the year but the Senators is a team that has struggled to contend over the past few years.
