This past regular season, forward Adrian Kempe led the Los Angeles Kings in goal scoring and total points. Kempe once again led Los Angeles in goals and total points during the 2025-26 season.
Kempe was instrumental in helping the Kings reach the postseason in the Pacific Division for the fifth year in a row. He also reached the 35-goal mark for the second consecutive season while helping the Kings reach the postseason for a fifth straight year.
The former 29th overall pick in the first round of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, Kempe has developed into one of the Kings’ most reliable offensive producers over the past several seasons. This past year was Kempe's ninth season with the Kings.
Adrian Kempe's performance for the Los Angeles Kings in the 2026-26 season
This past regular season was the third year in a row that Kempe has finished the season with at least 70 points on the stat sheet. He's also the only Kings' player in the last two seasons combined to score over 70 goals.
Kempe moved into the top 10 in Kings' franchise history in career goals scored in the regular season. He's not too far from passing Wayne Gretzky for eighth all-time in franchise history in goals scored. Kempe is rapidly climbing the franchise record books and could continue moving up the all-time scoring lists over the next several seasons.
It's also noteworthy that he reached 200 career goals scored in the regular season for the Kings in this past regular season.
One of the few offensive disappointments in Kempe’s season came on the power play, where Los Angeles struggled to consistently capitalize despite his importance to the top unit. Kempe, among the Kings' most dangerous weapons on special teams on the power play top unit, only scored four goals on the power play this past season.
In the postseason, Kempe had one goal, one assist, and two total points in four games played in the playoffs.
During the regular season, the Kings handed Kempe a sizable eight-year contract extension deal, worth around $10.6 million in average annual value through the end of the 2033-34 season. The contract extension also reinforced how important Kempe has become to the organization’s long-term plans as one of the focal points of the Kings’ offense moving forward.
The extension also gives Los Angeles long-term stability around one of the franchise’s most important offensive players.
Overall, Kempe once again delivered one of the strongest offensive seasons on the roster while continuing to establish himself as one of the franchise’s foundational players moving forward. He is one of the best, if not the best overall, players in the Kings' organization going into the 2026 offseason.
2025-26 Season Grade: A
What to expect from Adrian Kempe moving forward with the Los Angeles Kings in the 2026-27 season?
Entering the 2026-27 season, Kempe will continue carrying major offensive expectations as one of the leaders of the Kings’ top line and power-play unit. Following his long-term extension, Los Angeles will rely heavily on Kempe to remain one of the franchise’s primary scoring threats moving forward.
It will be interesting to see whether Artemi Panarin can push Kempe and the Kings for the team lead in points and goals this upcoming season in the 2026-27 campaign. Since Panarin and Kempe are projected to potentially skate together next season, the Kings will likely expect both players to help drive the offense at an elite level.
A big question for the Kings and the new coaching staff going into the 2026-27 season will be whether the team will get a new center addition in the top six this offseason or if Quinton Byfield will be centering the line with Panarin and Kempe next year.
We'll have to see who the Kings hire as the next head coach this offseason before we know who will center the top line offensively next season in 2026-27.
Kings' fans should be really exicted about what's to come from this line going into the 2026-27 season.
