It was announced on Sunday afternoon (Nov. 16) that the Los Angeles Kings have reached an agreement with star forward Adrian Kempe to keep him around with the organization well into the future in the league.
Los Angeles Kings and Adrian Kempe reportedly agree to a contract extension over the span of eight years
The news was first reported by ESPN's Emily Kaplan on her X account on Nov. 16 that the Kings and Kempe reached an agreement for a new contract extension deal this weekend.

It was later reported by Elliotte Friedman that the Kings had agreed to an eight-year contract extension, worth around $10.625 million in average annual value. The new contract deal is set to keep Kempe with the Kings' franchise until the end of the 2033-24 season.
This news comes after the Kings and Kempe and his camp were in contract negotiations throughout this fall early in the regular season. The contract extension keeps Kempe from becoming what was expected to be one of the top unrestricted free agents next offseason in the summer of 2026 for the Kings.
It's hard to understate this news for new general manager Ken Holland and the Kings to sign Kempe to a sizable new contract extension this fall. The Kings already have some aging stars with the top-six forward lines this season, and Kempe is the team's leading scorer early this regular season.
Kempe has become the Kings' clear top scoring option on the forward lines on the top six for head coach Jim Hiller and staff in the past few seasons for LA. He has led the team in goal scoring and points in the past two seasons. Kempe currently leads the team in total points (19) and ranks second in goals scored (six) this fall.
At 29 years old, Kempe has scored at least 20 goals in the past four seasons. He's also scored over 30 goals in three of the past four years for the Kings in the West.
