The Los Angeles Kings had a record-setting regular season as a franchise and it was due in large part to the performance of Adrian Kempe. This was his ninth season in the NHL after the LA Kings selected him with the 29th overall pick in the 2014 NHL Draft, and he looks to be just starting to hit the peak of his career.
Adrian Kempe's 2024-25 season performance
For the second straight season, Kempe would finish with over 70 points and would lead the team this season in points with 73. He was tied with Kevin Fiala for the team lead in goals with 35 while adding 38 assists.
One of the things that was most impressive about Kempe's season and why he received the grade he did was just how consistent he was. He would finish the season with at least one point in over half the games he played and had a goal in 32 games.
While it wasn't with the Kings, Adrian Kempe did participate in the 4-Nations Faceoff during the season and it seems like it was a chance for the rest of hockey to catch up with what Kings' fans know. He showed off his shot and made a big impact for Team Sweden.
Kempe would continue his strong regular season into the playoffs and while the Kings didn't get the result they wanted, their star forward definitely made his presence known. He would have nine points in the first three games with four goals and five assists.
What to expect from Adrian Kempe moving forward with the Los Angeles Kings?
It will be interesting to see what the Los Angeles Kings do in free agency and the offseason but expectations for Adrian Kempe will remain very high going into next season. He is the team's best forward at this point and must handle a majority of the scoring for this team.
The good news is that Kempe has shown he can handle that based on the past few seasons. The biggest question in regards to their star forward is whether or not the team can reach a new contract as he is entering the final year of his current contract. It should be a priority for the team this offseason because of what he brings to this offense.
