A wild day in mostly a bad way for the Los Angeles Kings players representing their flags and home countries in the 2026 Winter Olympics on Day 3 yesterday involved a couple of games between players from the same team in group play on Feb. 13. Finland and winger Joel Armia pulled off a big 4-1 win on the scoreboard over winger Adrian Kempe and Team Sweden on Friday.
Joel Armia and Adrian Kempe from the Los Angeles Kings combine for multiple goals and five total points in two wins in the Olympics on Day 4
Following that game, a matchup between Team Canada and Team Switzerland that the Canadians won by a score of 5-1, saw Kings' and Swiss forward Kevin Fiala suffer a lower-body injury after a collision near the boards with Washington Capitals and Canada forward Tom Wilson. Fiala was stretchered off the ice yesterday after suffering a leg injury that will cause him to miss the rest of the Olympics and be out for the 2025-26 season for the Kings.
Day 4 of Olympic action involving Kings' players representing their home countries on Satuday morning saw Kempe and Sweden face Slovakia in Group B play on Feb. 14. Sweden needed an important win over Slovakia to get out of a second-place tie in the Group B table with Finland.
Sweden ended up winning the game on the scoreboard vs. Slovakia this morning by a score of 5-3. But Slovakia ended up winning the group on a late-third period goal in the final frame that allowed them to win the group today and get a bye to the quarterfinals competition.
