This past weekend in the win over the Ottawa Senators on Saturday, the Los Angeles Kings lost veteran defenseman Drew Doughty to a lower-body injury after he blocked a shot in the middle of the game. Head coach Jim Hiller said earlier this week that Doughty's status with the lower-body injury he suffered vs. Ottawa was "week-to-week".
Jim Hiller and Ken Holland confirm that Drew Doughty's injury status for the Los Angeles Kings is listed as "week-to-week"
It was reported this past weekend that Doughty would "miss some time" for the Kings after taking a shot to the left foot-ankle in LA's win over the Senators in Ottawa on Nov. 15. The announcement from Hiller earlier this week before the Kings' game against the Washington Capitals on the road on Nov. 17 that Doughty will be out "week-to-week" was reaffirmed by new general manager Ken Holland on Wednesday (Nov. 19).
It wouldn't be too surprising if the Kings and Hiller decide to soon place Doughty on injured reserve this fall. Zach Dooley of LA Kings Insider reported on Nov. 19 that it's "likely" that the Kings will place Doughty on injured reserve tomorrow.
The Kings and Hiller moved defenseman Jacob Moverare in the active lineup on the blue line earlier this week after Doughty suffered the lower-body injury in the win over the Senators this past weekend.
Moverare made his first full appearance in a game for the Kings' blue line this fall in the regular season in the loss to the Capitals in the nation's capital on Monday. Hiller gave Moverare a positive review for his performance for the Kings in his first full game played early this week, a couple of days ago.
"I thought he was good. He reminded me exactly how he played last year. He was actually evasive a little bit on the breakout, solid defensively, blocked some shots. He just did what he typically does, so that was a really good performance for him."Jim Hiller on Jacob Moverare
Doughty has scored two goals and eight total points in 19 games played for the Kings early this regular season for the LA blue line.
