The Los Angeles Kings are leaving Canada north of the border from Ottawa with a 1-0 win over the Senators this weekend on Saturday. Jim Hiller and the Kings will have some work to do to put together new blue line pairs for the defensive core group after defenseman Drew Doughty suffered a lower-body injury in the middle frame in the second period yesterday.
Los Angeles Kings defenseman Drew Doughty reportedly to miss "a few weeks" after suffering a lower-body injury vs. Ottawa on Nov. 15
Doughty was seen leaving the game from Ottawa yesterday in a walking boot after suffering the left foot/ankle injury in the game's second period for the Kings.
There was an update regarding Doughty's injury status for the Kings and a potential timeline for his return to the team after suffering the lower-body injury yesterday vs. the Senators.
David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period reported on Sunday morning (Nov. 16) that Doughty is "going to miss some time after taking a shot off the foot/toe yesterday against Ottawa" for the Kings this weekend.
This report from Pagnotta on Nov. 16 noted that Doughty is expected to "be out of action for a few weeks" for the Kings this fall.
This comes after Hiller gave an update on Doughty's status after the lower-body injury he suffered yesterday in the middle of the game in the win over the Senators on the road in Ottawa on Nov. 15. Doughty was in visible pain on the bench for the Kings after blocking the shot in the second period yesterday against Ottawa.
"We’ll probably have an update tomorrow, but not much to share right now.Jim Hiller on Drew Doughty
He made a great play at the end of it, because they had somebody back door. He’s a warrior. We’ve talked about him a lot, and that’s just another example of it."
The ankle/foot injury is on the same side that Doughty had surgery this past year in the 2024-25 campaign last season for the Kings. I'd have to think that the team's staff will be very careful proceeding with Doughty's rehab and recovery process from the lower-body injury this week.
