It's been made clear in the past few months in the West that it is a top priority on the trade block for new general manager Ken Holland and the Los Angeles Kings to make a big splash move before the trade deadline in a couple of months for a top-six scoring forward for the active roster lineup. The Kings are looking for help scoring the puck offensively this regular season in the West in the Pacific Division.
Los Angeles Kings have reportedly gauged the interest from the Vancouver Canucks in a possible Evander Kane trade on the block this regular season
A name that has surfaced in various rumors and social media discussions on the trade market concerning Holland and the Kings' front office in the past couple of weeks in the West is Vancouver Canucks and former Edmonton Oilers and San Jose Sharks veteran forward Evander Kane.
Multiple reports confirmed late this week on Tuesday and Wednesday in this past couple of days that the Kings have checked in on a possible Kane trade from the Canucks in Vancouver. Kane signed with the Canucks in Vancouver this past offseason in the summer of 2025 after spending three years in the 2020s decade with the Oilers in the West.
This past week, it was reported by Kings' blog Mayors Manor that the Kings were kicking the tires on the possibility of a trade with the Canucks for Kane.
Reports from Dennis Bernstein and David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period in the middle of this week on Jan. 27 confirmed the rumor from Mayors Manor that the Kings have "inquired about Kane" recently on the trade block this regular season in the West.
Kane wouldn't be the first possible trade target on the block that most Kings fans would consider in the West this regular season. He's been a long-held rival of the Kings in the Pacific Division in the West in the past couple of decades in the West.
There are viable connections in the Pacific Division between Kane and Holland in the Kings' front office for the team. Kane played for the Oilers in the early-to-mid 2020s decade when Holland was Edmonton's general manager for a few years.
Kane has scored nine goals and two-dozen total points in 52 games played this regular season in the West for the Canucks in Vancouver.
