The Los Angeles Kings don't waste any time into the second period to build their lead after Adrian Kempe scored the first goal for the Kings against the New York Islanders. In the second period, the Kings kept the pressure on the Islanders and were in the process of making a change while Kevin Fiala held the puck in the offensive zone.
Fiala would skate a little bit forward and rip a shot over Ilya Sorokin and just under the crossbar to secure the goal and give the Kings a 2-0 lead. These are not usually high-percentage shots from this far out but the Kings forward certainly made it look easy
Kevin Fiala is one of the streakier players on the Los Angeles Kings but it looks like he is starting to heat up with three goals in the last six games along with two assists as well during that stretch.
The Los Angeles Kings don't have the dominant goal scorer and the offense is going to need production across all their lines. After the Sharks game, the Kings shuffled their lines and Kevin Fiala was moved to the third line with Phillip Danault and Alex Laferriere.
It seems like Fiala has really enjoyed playing on this line because he has those a little under a third of his points this season just in the past six games. Kevin Fiala now has 10 goals and eight assists on the season but has to work on that +/- that was -7 entering this game.
New York Islanders respond with a goal to cut into the Los Angeles Kings lead
The Los Angeles Kings were in control for most of the second period, and the game for that matter, but the Islanders were able to finally beat Darcy Kuemper with Anders Lee scoring a goal midway through the period.
