The Los Angeles Kings had an afternoon matchup with the Colorado Avalanche as they tried to win their first game this season against Colorado in what would be their third meeting. The previous two meetings were in Colorado but the Kings have been one of the best teams at home this season and that certainly helped on Saturday.

The Avalanche were entering this game short-handed but they didn't play that way and every time the Los Angeles Kings got a two-goal lead, which happened in each period of this game, Colorado would fight back.

In the end, the Kings were able to get the job done and secure the win by a final score of 5-4 and move closer to securing home ice in the playoffs. These are some of the top takeaways from this game.

Quinton Byfield extends his goal streak to three

It didn't take long for the Los Angeles Kings to get the lead early in this game as Quinton Byfield would score just four minutes into the first period. The center now has 22 goals on the season, which extends his career-high, and is the second time this season he has had a goal streak of three or more games.

The other goal streak was at the beginning of March when he had a goal in six straight games. He now has 10 goals in the past 21 games after only scoring 11 in the first 57 games. It has been a breakout season for Byfield and if he continues to play like this, he can be a difference maker for Los Angeles in the playoffs.
