Against the Seattle Kraken, Quinton Byfield had a highlight reel goal for the Los Angeles Kings and it was his 20th goal of the season. He has now had 20 goals in consecutive seasons and is a player that looks to be ascending after another strong year.

The goal against the Kraken was one of the more improbable goals of the season as it only had Projected Goal Rate of 1.61% when Kyle Burrough's shot the puck. However, the way Byfield was able to knock it down and redirect it, that PGR sky-rocketed up to 58% according to NHL EDGE IQ. It was the second highest PGR of any shot not on an empty net this season and behind only Anze Kopitar's goal against the Vegas Golden Knights back in October, which was 60.9%.

For fans that have watched him this season, he has certainly passed the eye test and just has a different presence on the ice for Los Angeles. It is not hard to find him on the ice and he is making plays, whether it is as a scorer or passer which was pretty evident last season. This year he has only added to that game with physicality and defense.

Quinton Byfield is an advanced analytics standout this season for the LA Kings

According to NHL EDGE, Quinton Byfield is in the Top 5 percentile in a number of categories including Top Skating Speed at 23.40 mph which is in the 95th percentile and speed bursts over 20 mph with 286 which is in the 98th percentile. However, he isn't just giving bursts but doing this consistently as he has traveled over 250 miles this season and that ranks in 97th percentile.

The goal against the Kraken was the closest he has had to the goal line at only 4.50 feet and where he has really excelled is in the Mid-Range as he is in the 91st percentile in shooting percentage at 20.4%.

The best part about all of this is that Byfield is only 23 years old and if he continues to improve, it won't be long until the rest of the league catches up to what Los Angeles Kings fans already know. That is that Quinton Byfield is going to be a star and an elite player for this franchise moving forward.
