The Los Angeles Kings are currently in the midst of their longest win streak of the 2024-25 season with five straight wins. It is hard to imagine that the Kings have been able to put together this win streak as they had lost four of the six games prior to that, including giving up five goals in the third period to the San Jose Sharks.
Their five-game win streak has been pretty impressive as they have beaten some good teams over the past week and a half. In three of the five games, they would beat the Minnesota Wild, Winnipeg Jets, and Dallas Stars, who comprised the Top 3 spots in the Central Division.
The Kings are playing great hockey and they need to be as they enter a pivotal seven-game road trip that will span close to two weeks. Let's take a look at their opponents and realistically how long their win streak can last.
How far can the Los Angeles Kings push their win streak?
The Kings kick off the road trip on Tuesday against the New York Islanders then have games against the Devils, Rangers, Penguins, Flyers, Predators and finally the Washington Capital before returning to Los Angeles.
Entering Monday, the Islanders have a 11-11-7 record but could be a trap game if the Kings are looking past them to the Devils, who are 18-10-2. The Rangers are another team that has struggled as they have lost seven of their last nine games and the Kings should win this one.
The Flyers and Penguins have struggled as well and both teams have points percentage of .500 or less. The final two games on the road trip are back-to-back games as the Kings travel to Nashville, who currently have lost seven in a row, before heading to Washington play the Capitals.
There is no question that the toughest matchup on paper is their last road game against the Washington Capitals, who are 19-6-2. With the way the Kings have played though, this is a game they have a good chance to win.
A long road trip like this can take a toll on a team so they may not be at their best against the Capitals. However, if the Kings continue their win streak all the way to this game it would be an 11-game win streak and would break the franchise record of nine (which was set in the 2009-10 season).
The game most likely to end their win streak is against the New Jersey Devils but if they get past the Devils, the Los Angeles Kings have a great chance to at least match the franchise record for most consecutive wins.
