The Los Angeles Kings have been playing pretty great as of late and won seven of their last eight and are firmly in the discussion at the top of the Pacific Division. However, it doesn't seem like general manager Rob Blake is going to wait until the trade deadline if there is a chance to improve this roster.
Last week, Frank Seravalli during The DFO Rundown made a point to call out the Los Angeles Kings as a team that has been pretty active in trade discussions recently. He did make a point that he doesn't believe anything to be imminent but he had heard they have been part of a few conversations.
Could the Los Angeles Kings pull off a trade with the Philadelphia Flyers?
One team he mentions as a possible trade partner is the Philadelphia Flyers and Seravalli mentions a few players including Bobby Brink, Joel Farabee, Morgan Frost, and Scott Laughton. For the Kings to be in trade discussions, they could be looking for one of two things.
The first might be a left wing to play with Anze Kopitar and Adrian Kempe as they have yet to find a permanent option to play with these two. The last game against the Rangers Alex Turcotte looked great in this spot and they should give him a chance but Jim Hiller might not be ready to commit to him.
Farabee has been pretty consistent with somewhere between 15-22 goals over the past four seasons and would slot in nicely at left wing for this top line.
Another need that the Kings have is a right-handed goal-scoring forward but of those four players Bobby Brink is the only one who shoots right. However, it is hard to define him as a goal scorer with only 15 goals through 95 career games in the NHL. He is young at only 23 years old but it would be surprising if this was the player they were targeting.
It remains to be seen if the Kings will actually work out a trade with the Philadelphia Flyers but one thing is clear, the Los Angeles Kings are ready to make some moves to try and improve this roster to make a playoff run.
