Over the first 10 games or so of the 2024-25 season, Alex Laferriere and Alex Turcotte were playing really good hockey for the Los Angeles Kings. At one point, Laferriere was leading the team in goals while Turcotte had four points in the first six games.
Both players have hit a bit of a lull as of late but they might be heating up again right at the same time. Turcotte and Laferriere combined for three points against the Winnipeg Jets and were able to extend their point streak on the same play against the Anaheim Ducks.
In the second period, the Kings were down 1-0 after Ryan Strome scored a goal for the Ducks in the first three minutes of the period. However, that lead didn't last very long as midway through the second period, the teams were making a shift change with the Ducks turning it over in the neutral zone.
Laferriere would gain control of the puck and lead a 2-on-1 with Turcotte slightly ahead after coming off the bench. Alex Laferriere would be able to pass the puck over to Turcotte who wasted no time and ripped a shot near post and right over John Gibson's shoulder for the goal.
For Alex Turcotte, that was his second goal of the season, and has now set a career-high after only one goal in 18 games last season. Meanwhile, Alex Laferriere improved his assist total to nine and has 18 points on the season and that is the third highest points total on the Los Angeles Kings.
What has been a trend this season, the Los Angeles Kings have been pretty inconsistent from game to game and seemingly plays to the level of their opponent. In their last game against the Winnipeg Jets, they controlled that game from start to finish but today against the Ducks they have been more reactive. Hopefully this goal can help the Kings gain momentum and keep it through the remainder of the game.
