Alex Laferriere was a third round pick by the Los Angeles Kings in the 2020 NHL Draft and he didn't waste much time getting to the NHL. He wasn't expected to make the Kings' roster after playing only four games in the AHL once his college season at Harvard finished the year prior.
However, he impressed the coaching staff enough during training camp to earn a spot at the start of the season and remained with the Kings through his entire rookie season. Entering his second season in the NHL, the hope is that he can take that next step and play a bigger role in this offense.

What to expect from Alex Laferriere in the 2024-25 season?
The first season in the NHL was a great experience for Laferriere but the hope is that he will build off that. He could be entering the season in a pivotal spot as one of the top forwards for this offense and wouldn't be overly surprising if he is on the top line with Anze Kopitar and Adrian Kempe.
It certainly could benefit Laferriere being paired with two of the top veterans on offense on the Kings. The pressure might be taken off him a bit and allow him to build on those totals from a season ago. The hope would be that he could get somewhere close to 25 goals this season playing on that line.
