Will Cuylle
The New York Rangers recently traded Chris Kreider to the Anaheim Ducks, which helped create some cap space for them heading into free agency. While they may try to add Vladislav Gavrikov, who they have reported interest in, they also have a number of restricted free agents who could be looking for new deals.
One of those players is Will Cuylle, who just had 45 points for the Rangers this past season, and has a very similar skill set to Knies. He may not be the same talent, but Frank Seravalli described him as "lowercase Matthew Knies."
The comparisons are certainly there and saying he is a lowercase Knies is not necessarily a slight in anyway. He is a player that could deliver 20-30 goals a season but bring that physicality as he surpassed 300 hits last season.
He is not an ideal top line left wing but would certainly be an upgrade from what the Los Angeles Kings had last season.
Gabriel Vilardi
Without question, the worst move made by Rob Blake as general manager of the Los Angeles Kings was trading for Pierre-Luc Dubois with the Winnipeg Jets. As part of that trade, they sent Gabriel Vilardi to the Jets after he had a breakout season with 23 goals and 18 assists.
Vilardi has continued to produce and this past season had 61 points with almost half of those points coming on the power play (12 goals, 13 assists). It would be tough to have to trade draft picks back to the Jets for a player they traded to them but there is no question Vilardi would be a great addition to the group.
