For the LA Kings, the top priority right now is trying to figure out a plan for Vladislav Gavrikov. The Kings' defenseman is their best player set to hit free agency and if he does will likely get one of the biggest contracts this summer.
The best scenario for the Kings is that they are able to sign him to a contract before he even gets to free agency because if he isn't under contract by July 1st, when free agency begins, there will be a lot of teams calling.
Let's make some predictions and highlight some teams that might be interested in Vladislav Gavrikov if he reaches free agency.
New York Rangers
According to Arthur Staple with The Athletic, the New York Rangers are expected to be looking to shake up their roster over the next few weeks. If they do that and can create some cap space, Rangers' general manager Chris Drury could try to sign the veteran defenseman.
The Rangers currently don't have much cap space, with an estimated $8.4 million according to Puckpedia, so they will definitely need to clear some salary to bring in Gavrikov. However, it makes sense as New York is coming off a down season, but could turn it around rather quickly with a few new players.
