The Los Angeles Kings suffered their first loss in the series with the Edmonton Oilers by a final score of 7-4 on Friday night. It was a tough game for the Kings as they got behind early but were able to fight back to take the lead in the second period. Unfortunately, the third period was pretty much all Edmonton.
Sometimes it is hard to find the positives in losses like this but looking ahead to Game 4 and the rest of the series, there is plenty for the Kings to build on as they try to advance past the Oilers and into the second round. Let's take a look at some of the positives for the Kings from Game 3.
LA Kings continue to thrive on the power play in this series
One of the biggest surprises from this series, and it has been all three games, is the Kings' ability to score on the power play. During the regular season, the Kings had the sixth-worst power play percentage at 17.9% and the sixth-fewest power play goals at 37.
However, in this series it has been a completely different story and one of the reasons the Kings have a 2-1 lead over the Oilers. They have scored seven power play goals in just three games and have a power play percentage of 64%.
This is a huge difference from the previous series last year when the Kings were unable to muster a single power play goal in five games. If the Kings can keep this up, they have a great chance to win the series.
