After Marner, the player who is seemingly the best free agent is center Sam Bennett who was traded from the Calgary Flames to the Florida Panthers during the 2020-21 season. He has been a big part of the Panthers third straight trip to the Stanley Cup Finals, and potentially back-to-back championships if they win against the Oilers this season.

Bennett is not going to put up the points that Marner would, but he brings some grit and toughness to the forward group. He has had over 100 hits every season, except his first in the league when he appeared in only one game.

There is certainly some offense that he would bring to the Kings with 40 or more points in each of the past four seasons but where he can help, and Holland identified this as a focus, is those high danger goals right in front of the net. According to MoneyPuck, Bennett was 13th in High Danger xGoals at 16.22, which would certainly help Los Angeles in the playoffs.
