JJ Peterka
The team this offseason that might be the most active on the trade front is the Buffalo Sabres, as they try to figure out how to end the longest playoff drought in the NHL. One player that the LA Kings might realistically have a shot at is Bowen Byram but the player that will generate the most interest is JJ Peterka.
The Daily Faceoff has Peterka as the best player available in a trade this offseason and rightfully so. He is set to be a restricted free agent this offseason and has had back-to-back seasons with 25+ goals and this past season he also nearly doubled his previous career-high in assists with 41 while turning 24 this upcoming season.
For the Kings, they were looking for a left-handed scorer at the NHL Trade Deadline and this is still a need for them. Peterka would definitely fill that hole and would be an upgrade over Andrei Kuzmenko on the top line with Anze Kopitar and Adrian Kempe.
If there is a blockbuster trade that would put the Kings in great position to make a run at a Stanley Cup, it would be one trade that included both JJ Peterka and Bowen Byram, as Los Angeles could get younger while adding two players who are just entering their prime. The return to Buffalo might be too much for the Kings to get a deal done but it is something they might want to explore.
