The regular season home opener for the Los Angeles Kings is roughly 24 hours away against the Colorado Avalanche at Crypto.com Arena tomorrow night (Oct. 7). The final roster updates and injury status reports are coming out for head coach Jim Hiller and the Kings in the final full day before the regular season opener tomorrow vs. the Avs at home for LA.
Alex Laferriere practice for the Los Angeles Kings on Monday and going into the regular season opener vs. Colorado
Kings' fans got a couple of encouraging injury updates and reports today in the final hours leading up to the day of the regular season opener against the Avs tomorrow.
Here's a look at three key injury updates for the Kings going into the regular season opener at home on Oct. 7 at Crypto.com Arena against the Avalanche.
Alex Laferriere, F
In the Kings' preseason finale win over the Anaheim Ducks in overtime this past weekend at Crypto, Alex Laferriere left the game due to an injury he sustained before the end of the contest last Saturday.
Hiller said that Laferriere was "not at 100 percent" with the undisclosed injury that he suffered in the preseason finale win over the Ducks this past Saturday against Anaheim.
"I don’t know for sure. He’s just not 100 percent right now. We’ll see what the next few days bring, a couple of days, but he’s not a guarantee."Jim Hiller
Zach Dooley of LA Kings Insider reported on Oct. 6 that Laferriere was skating with the team on the ice early this week on Monday.
It sounds like Laferriere was a participant in practice for the Kings earlier today in the team skate. He was practicing with his usual line with the forward group with Quinton Byfield and Kevin Fiala on the second line for the Kings.
Corey Perry, F
Corey Perry highlighted the Kings' veteran free agent signing class this past summer in the 2025 offseasonfor new general manager Ken Holland. Perry suffered a knee injury early in camp in a on-ice team skate this past month in early-to-mid September.
Hiller said recently that the rehab process for Perry after suffering the knee injury this past month in early September "has gone well so far". We don't have a firm timeline update yet for when Perry can return to the lineup for the Kings this upcoming regular season as he goes through recovery and rehab from lower-body injury this fall.
Kyle Burroughs, D
It was announced over the weekend that the Kings placed defenseman Kyle Burroughs on injured reserve going into the regular season this fall. Burroughs could be back for the Kings as soon as in the next couple of weeks.
We mentioned in a piece on the site this past weekend that it was reported that Burroughs "will be out for a while" due to the upper-body injury he suffered earlier in the preseason a couple of weeks ago.
The Kings will go into the regular season tomorrow vs. the Avs with seven defensemen on the roster. It's not been announced yet by the Kings which defensemen or forward could be called up with Burroughs on injured reserve early this week.
