Ryan Smyth…

AUTHOR: | IN: Kings | COMMENTS: None Yet

So as we all know, Ryan Smyth has been put on the Injured Reserve. When he was injured, no doubt the entire Kings collective held their breath, hoping that his injury would be short-lived, and that he’d be able to return quickly to his rightful place next to Kopitar on the 1st line. That line has been devastating to opposing teams, and is a primary reason that Kopitar leads the NHL in points. Unfortunately those hopes were dashed. Smyth is on the IR, and the Kings have brought up Andrei Loktionov to fill in. In actuality, Loktionov is going to [...]

Devestating Loss

AUTHOR: | IN: Kings | COMMENTS: None Yet

So the Kings didn’t play well. While I’d like to think I was enough motivation to get the Kings out of the gate strong, clearly that was not the case. The Kings struggled for the majority of the game, despite having some solid stretches, and ultimately ended up on the wrong side of a 3-2 decision. I’ll say a few things that dawned on me as I was watching: First, Alexander Frolov is a mystery. Seriously. Frolov has the kind of dominance on the puck that’s impressive to see. He can singlehandedly hang on to the puck along the boards [...]

Go Kings Go!

AUTHOR: | IN: Kings | COMMENTS: None Yet

As a dedicated, but unfortunately under-financed fan, I watch every game (except un-televised Canadian trips…) I rarely get to go see a game. That changes tonight. I’m heading to Staples now to check out the Kings in person as they take on the Philadelphia Flyers tonight. We’ll be in section 116, row 19. Say hello if you’re there! (and yes, I know the picture above is Kings v. Predators, but I like the save.

Apology – and Review of the Trip

AUTHOR: | IN: Kings | COMMENTS: None Yet

First, I apologize for being away. My real world has gotten hectic, and I just haven’t had the time to post regularly on this site. I have been watching the Kings games (c’mon guys, gotta have your priorities), but just not the time or energy to post long rambling posts about the games that you’re probably all sick of anyway! Anyway, things have slowed down again, and I don’t anticipate any real hectic times coming for quite a while, so I’m back. And better than ever! Now, on to the road-trip and games that I’ve missed. When last we left, [...]

Kings v. Hurricanes

AUTHOR: | IN: Kings | COMMENTS: None Yet

As you’re likely aware, tonight the Kings take on the Carolina Hurricanes in Carolina, as they continue their second longest road-trip of the season. With any luck we’ll take a couple points away from the struggling ‘Canes, and head into the next game without the albatross of a losing “streak” on our shoulders. Couple things to point out for tonight: First, Eric Ersberg is going to be getting his first start since playing against the Rangers in that loss. Quick has apparently struggled the last couple games, and Terry Murray felt like it was time to get Ersberg some time [...]

Knock on Wood?

AUTHOR: | IN: Kings | COMMENTS: None Yet

Well… maybe I should have knocked on wood. After an impressive string of games that made any Kings fan happy and excited to see the next game, the Kings dropped two straight, one to Nashville, 3-1 and one to Chicago, 4-1. No good. Since the Nashville game wasn’t televised, I don’t have a lot to say, except that it was clearly not a good performance. Frankly, I’m not willing to give the Chicago game the credit necessary to go into detail about it either. Suffice it to say we did not play well in either, and the results reflected that [...]

It’s a swell time to be a King

AUTHOR: | IN: Kings | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

There’s no question that with the exception of the ’93 Cup run, this might be the most exciting time to be a Kings fan in quite a while. Not only are the Kings rolling to a 10-4-2 record, good enough for a solid #4 in the conference, an achievement even more impressive when realizing that 4 of the 5 division rivals in the Pacific are in the top 6 slots of the Western Conference. They’re not beating up on puny teams, they’re playing good, solid hockey, led by NHL leading scorer Anze Kopitar, who has put up 26 points (13G, [...]

A whole new post for my birthday. Yes, the Kings play the Penguins tonight. It’s going to be a great game. But I won’t have an opinion until tomorrow. It’s my birthday and I’m going out for a delicious meal tonight. Tragic. Oh well, we’ll see the game tonight/tomorrow, and I’ll have more to say tomorrow. Thanks!
