On Wednesday, the Los Angeles Kings announced the jersey numbers for the five newest players, who the Kings signed this summer as free agents. However, the question now is who was the last player to wear the jersey number?
Brian Dumoulin (Jersey Number: 2)
Brian Dumoulin will be the 30th player in Kings history to wear the jersey number 2 but will be the first time since 2023 that the Kings have a player with that number. The last player to wear this number was Alexander Edler, who wore it for the 2022-23 season and appeared in 64 games for the Kings.
Cody Ceci (Jersey Number: 5)
This season, Cody Ceci will be the 23rd player to wear this number for the Los Angeles Kings and the last player was also a defenseman. Last season, it was Andreas Englund who wore number five but he played in only 11 games for the Kings before being waived. He would be claimed off waivers by the Nashville Predators and played in 24 games to finish out the season.
Corey Perry (Jersey Number: 10)
The number 10 jersey is the most popular in Kings history as it has been worn the most and Corey Perry will be the 34th player to do so. This past season, it was Tanner Jeannot to wear the number in his first, and only season, with the Kings after they traded for him last offseason.
Anton Forsberg (Jersey Number: 31)
Last season, fans would find jersey number 31 in the crease as David Rittich wore that number as the backup goalie for the Kings. Anton Forsberg comes in to replace Rittich as the backup to Darcy Kuemper and will make sure jersey number 31 remains in front of the net.
Joel Armia (Jersey Number: 40)
Of all the numbers on this list, jersey number 40 has been worn the least and Joel Armia will only be the sixth player in franchise history to wear it. Prior to him, Joe Hicketts wore the number in 2024 but he didn't appear in any games for the Kings.
Before Hickett, it was Calvin Peterson who was the backup goalie to Jonathan Quick from 2018-19 through the 2022-23 season.
