Center captain Anze Kopitar made history for the Los Angeles Kings' franchise on Saturday evening (March 14) on the road against the New Jersey Devils this weekend. Kopitar scored the goal that got him to 1,307 career total points, which ties Kings' legend Marcel Dionne for the most total points in LA franchise history.

Early in the middle frame in the second period vs. the Devils on the road in the back end of back-to-back games in the Eastern Conference early this weekend on Saturday, Kopitar got the Kings back in the game on the scoreboard and on the ice.
Kopitar scored the goal on special teams on the power play on the 5-on-4 man advantage for the Kings to get the game's first goal for new interim head coach DJ Smith's team vs. the Devils on Saturday. Kopitar's goal in the middle frame in the second period today vs. the Devils on the road in New Jersey was assisted by forward Artemi Panarin and defenseman Brandt Clarke on special teams on the power play for the Kings on the 5-on-4 man advantage.

Kopitar scored what would be the eventual game-tying goal on the scoreboard on Friday evening (March 13) on the road vs. the New York Islanders roughly 24 hours before tying franchise history on Saturday this weekend.
This past Friday night in the front end of back-to-back games this weekend in the East on this road trip this past week, Kopitar made franchise history for the Kings by setting the all-time franchise record for road points (608).
It's pretty insane that the Kings' franchise has been able to celebrate so many feats for Kopitar in the history of the team this past week on the ice. Kopitar is now just one point away from being the outright franchise leader in all-time career points for the Kings in history.
