We're starting to see the Los Angeles Kings projected roster for the upcoming season in the Pacific Division take shape this fall in the latter stages of training camp and the preseason this week. The Kings made plenty of roster moves and transactions, assigning players to the AHL with the affiliate Ontario Reign on Wednesday (Oct. 1).

The Kings announced on Wednesday morning that over a dozen players were assigned to the Reign in the AHL.

Many of the moves the Kings made on Wednesday weren't all that shocking. Most of the players the Kings either placed through waivers or loaned to the Reign in the AHL this week for training camp in Ontario was expected since the start of camp for LA a couple of weeks ago in mid-to-late September.

Among the players the Kings either placed through waivers or sent directly to the AHL with the Reign today were competing for the final roster spot on the fourth line with the forward group after the knee injury that veteran winger Corey Perry suffered in an on-ice skate this past month in September.

Players like winger Martin Chromiak, forward Taylor Ward, and center Akil Thomas were competing for the final forward spot on the opening-night roster for head coach Jim Hiller and the Kings in training camp and the preseason this fall.

Ward made a big impact on the ice for the Kings this fall in the preseason. He scored a team-high three goals in three games played for the Kings this preseason in the past week or so. Thomas also played over two dozen games for the Kings on the forward lines this past regular season.

These were the Kings players who were returned to the Reign in the AHL today.
