These 3 LA Kings players could be on the move this summer

If the LA Kings pursue major roster changes this offseason, these three players could find themselves on the trade block.

Holland and the Kings signed veteran defenseman Brian Dumoulin to a sizable four-year contract as an unrestricted free agent this past offseason in the summer of 2025.

The fact that Los Angeles signed Dumoulin just one year ago makes a trade less likely, but veteran defensemen with playoff experience often retain value around the league. Veteran defensemen with proven experience and length, like Dumoulin and Joel Edmundson, do carry decent value in the modern NHL for certain teams on the blue line on defense.

I think the Kings only have so many spots in the roster lineup on the blue line on defense that can go around next season. Dumoulin and Edmundson are probably the two Kings players on the blue line on defense who are the most expendable on the roster lineup this offseason on the trade block.

While Dumoulin provides leadership, experience, defensive reliability, and physicality, the Kings already have significant money committed to veteran defensemen. With younger players continuing to push for NHL opportunities, Los Angeles could eventually explore whether reallocating some of that cap space makes sense as the roster evolves.

With significant money already committed to multiple veteran defensemen, Dumoulin could become the more logical trade candidate if the Kings decide to create cap flexibility or open opportunities for younger players.

None of these players are guaranteed to be moved this summer. But if Holland decides significant roster changes are necessary, Moore, Kuemper, and Dumoulin could become some of the most logical pieces used to reshape the Kings in the post-Kopitar era.
