Darcy Kuemper, G
Darcy Kuemper remains one of the more valuable assets on the Kings' roster and one of the players most capable of bringing back a meaningful return in a trade.
Given the depth and youth that the Kings have in the minor league and developmental organization pipeline at the goaltender position, Kuemper could find himself on the outside looking in on the depth chart this upcoming season in 2026-27.
Trading Kuemper would undoubtedly be a controversial move given his importance to the Kings this past season. However, quality starting goaltenders always carry value on the trade market. If Los Angeles believes its younger goaltending options are ready for larger roles, moving Kuemper could help address other roster needs while creating long-term flexibility.
The Kings have several younger goaltenders in the pipeline, which could eventually create difficult decisions about the position's long-term future. And while Kuemper still has decent trade value and the Kings' front office needs to tackle more important priorities this offseason, like finding a true top-six center in the middle of the lineup this summer, I think freeing up cap space is key.
