It is the type of moments that every kid dreams about when playing hockey and Alec Martinez got to live that out in the 2014 Stanley Cup Final. That one goal will go down as the greatest goal in LA Kings history because of the moment and what it accomplished.

That season, the LA Kings were back in their second Stanley Cup Final in only three seasons and were playing the New York Rangers. The Kings would end up winning the series in five games, but it was much closer than that, as three of the games went to overtime, with two of those games going to double overtime.

The Kings would win the first three games of that series, and the Rangers were hoping for a miracle, which they got in Game 4 to extend the series and send it back to Los Angeles. While teams don't want to lose any games in the playoffs, it was almost a blessing because of the moment it would give the franchise in Game 5.

That game would be back and forth as the Kings jumped out to a 1-0 lead before the Rangers scored two straight to take the lead going into the third period. However, Marian Gaborik would tie it up in the final period of regulation to send it to overtime.

Alec Martinez would have only one goal in the Stanley Cup Final but it came at the perfect time for the Los Angeles Kings

In that series, Alec Martinez wasn't contributing much in the offensive zone and did not have a single point in the first four games. However, that all changed in the second overtime when Martinez was able to collect a rebound to score the Stanley Cup-clinching goal.

Martinez would be known somewhat for overtime heroics as he would also score the overtime goal in Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals against the Chicago Blackhawks to reach the Stanley Cup Final that season.

In the end, considering what that goal accomplished in securing the second Stanley Cup in franchise history, it has to be the greatest goal in Los Angeles Kings' history.
