Artemi Panarin gets the Kings some juice in the third period, but it proves to be too late in the game
The game's only goal that was scored on the scoreboard in the final frame in the third period yesterday on special teams on the power play on the 5-on-4 man advantage was late in the game from Panarin for the Kings to cut the Avs' lead on the scoreboard to just one in clutch time vs. Colorado.
I think the Kings have the opportunity to be really confident and physical with Colorado in Games 2 and 3 in this series on the ice and defensively in the zone in the West. Panarin and the Kings proved that they can respond to the Avalanche on the road in clutch time on special teams on the top unit power play group up front.

"That’s the kind of hockey, we’re comfortable in the low-scoring games. I don’t think we can outscore them, so we’re going to have to keep it like that. Maybe we get the power play going, they had a couple good looks, another one goes in, different game too. We’re comfortable in the low-scoring games, so we’ve got to try and keep it tight, try and give them the least amount as possible."Mikey Anderson
The fact of the matter was that the Kings did a really nice job in the zone defensively against the Avs offensive scoring threats at 5-on-5 at even strength and on both sides of the ice in the West. The Kings getting the same number of scoring opportunities and medium-danger scoring chances at 5-on-5 at even strength and holding the Avs to zero goals on special teams on the 5-on-4 man advantage on the power play unit was worth boasting about yesterday.
