Simmonds developed into one of the NHL's better power forwards, while playing over 1,000 career regular season games and scoring over 500 points.

Instead of going with someone else, the St. Louis Blues stick with their original selection and pick two-way center Lars Eller 13th overall in this reimagining of the 2007 draft lottery in the first round. Eller is one of just two centers from this draft class in 2007 who played over 1,100 career regular season games.
He's also one of just a handful of centers from this draft class who played over 1,000 career regular season games and won a Stanley Cup Championship.
Sliding up 71 spots to just make it inside the lottery at No. 14, the Colorado Avalanche decide to pick defenseman Alec Martinez in the first round. Martinez is one of just three defensemen from this draft class in 2007 who played at least 800 career regular season games and won multiple Stanley Cups.
Although Colorado doesn't get to pick Shattenkirk just inside the lottery at No. 14 overall, they do get a quality defenseman who won multiple Stanley Cups with the Kings in the 2010s decade in Martinez.
