So far this offseason, Calgary Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson has been in various fan and media discussions regarding trade rumors and speculation with teams like the Los Angeles Kings and Vegas Golden Knights.

The Los Angeles Kings could be a possible trade destination for Rasmus Andersson with discussions stalling with the Flames front office

The Kings have been among a handful of teams showing interest and pursuing offers for Andersson on the trade block recently this offseason. With Andersson entering the final year of his six-year contract worth around $4.55 million in average annual value, there has been a lot of speculation and discussion regarding his future long-term extension options with the Flames and general manager Craig Conroy.

In a statement post from Expressen, Andersson addressed the recent rumors surrounding his status with the Flames and a past offer from the Kings.

"I have still been very appreciated in Calgary for a long time. Then some insider comes with wrong information and then the fans believe it, because they are right about a lot of other things they do and I understand that that is their job. But I have not given Calgary a team, that I only want to sympathize with a team. That is not true."

Andersson denied the speculation that the only team he would be willing to be traded to would be the Knights this offseason. He has maintained that he wants to communicate with the Flames and that he doesn't have any stipulations regarding potential trade destinations for Calgary's front office.

"I talked to my family and thought that right then and there, I wasn’t really keen on moving my family there and signing a long-term contract, that’s what it all came down to. I communicated that decision to Calgary."

He has a six-team no-trade clause in his contract in the final two years, which includes going into the 2025-26 season. With Andersson being one of the most speculated potential trade targets going into the 2025-26 season in the NHL, we will continue to watch possible suitors like the Kings, Knights, and Ottawa Senators on the market in the coming months.
