Over the past several decades, the Los Angeles Kings have been home to some of the best players in franchise history, with stars and Hall-of-Famers emerging at every position group across the different eras.

In this series that we're starting this weekend, we're taking a look at the best Kings' players position-by-position in the franchise's history.

These goalies made the biggest impact for the Los Angeles Kings in a pivotal decade in franchise history

We're starting off this decades ranking series with the 2000s, and at the goaltender position. Since the 2000s were largely a transitional decade for the Kings, the goalie picture was evolving pretty fast at the time. You started out the decade with some great seasons from two-time All-Star Felix Potvin and ened the 2000s with the emergence of young goalie Jonathan Quick.

Here's a ranking of the three best goalies for the Kings of the 2000s decade.

3. Jamie Storr

At the turn of the century, it looked like former lottery pick Jamie Storr would be the Kings' franchise goalie going into that decade in the 2000s. Storr started over 30 games in back-to-back seasons for the Kings from 1999-2001, while registering five shutouts and over a .900 save percentage.

The Kings were at an odd transitional point as a franchise in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Storr was expected to emerge as a homegrown franchise goalie for the Kings after being picked in the top 10 of the NHL Draft in the previous decade.

Storr split duties in goal for the Kings in the early 2000s, including a playoff appearance for Los Angeles in the 2000 postseason.

According to the advanced hockey metric from Bill James, Storr was the only Kings' goalie to register over 20 goalie point shares in the 2000s decade.

While he never developed into the franchise anchor goalie that many expected, Storr still contributed to a couple of Kings teams that made the playoffs around this time period and he is one of the more recognizable goalies for the franchise in the early 2000s.
