The Los Angeles Kings struggled to keep pace with the rest of the Pacific Division this summer.

It has been a busy offseason across the Pacific Division, and the Los Angeles Kings might have been the busiest. However, that doesn't mean they had the best offseason, and in fact, the moves that were made were questionable at best.

When looking at what their division rivals did, it almost makes the Kings' offseason even worse. I went ahead and ranked each team in the Pacific Division's offseason based on the moves they made with the salary cap they made.

8. Los Angeles Kings

Key Moves: Corey Perry (free agent addition), Joel Armia (free agent addition), Brian Dumoulin (free agent addition), Cody Ceci (free agent addition), Andrei Kuzmenko (re-signed before free agency)

The Los Angeles Kings were the most active of the teams in the Pacific Division by signing five free agents while also re-signing Andrei Kuzmenko. However, they suffered some of the biggest losses with the departure of Vladislav Gavrikov in free agency and trading away Jordan Spence.

The reason they are last in the division is because it wasn't necessarily the players they signed but the contracts they signed them to. By adding Dumoulin and Ceci with multi-year deals it not only impacts this season but future seasons when the free agent class might be deeper and the cap space would be better utilized.

7. Calgary Flames

Key moves: Adam Klapka (re-signed), Kevin Bahl (re-signed)

The Calgary Flames were probably one of the quietest teams in the Pacific Division as they didn't really sign any free agents of note. However, what they did do, and why they are ahead of the Kings, is bring back key parts of their roster in Kevin Bahl and Adam Klapka.

They more than likely had a list of free agents they would consider but once those players were no longer available, the Flames seemed to be content with keeping the roster together to the best of their ability. This will help them in future seasons as they try to get back to the playoffs.
