Drew Doughty

Drew Doughty made his season debut after his broken ankle suffered in the preseason at the end of January. He would play a few games before playing in 4 Nations, which is where fans started to see the old Doughty return.

It seemed like he was still trying to get comfortable in February but has looked to be fully back in March. In the 16 games in the month, he had two goals, and eight assists while leading all Kings' defensemen in points with 10.

One thing that could have helped is his minutes being managed a little more as he averaged under 24 minutes in the month, compared to over 25 in the nine games prior to March. He also was moved back to being paired with Mikey Anderson, who he played with all last season, and that may also be playing a factor in the improved performance in the month.

Darcy Kuemper

If there was an MVP for the LA Kings for the month of March, that might have to go to Darcy Kuemper. He has been excellent for most of the season but this past month he elevated his play even further and was almost unbeatable.

Kuemper finished the month with a 7-3-1 record and a save percentage of .935 with a goals against average of only 1.45. He would also finish the month with only one game allowing more than three goals, which was the first game of the month against the Chicago Blackhawks.

After that game, he didn't allow more than two goals in any game while adding two shutout performances which came in back-to-back games against the Washington Capitals, his former team, and the Nashville Predators. This would match his season total prior to March and is now one shutout away from matching his career high of five, which he accomplished last in the 2022-23 season.
