The scoring got off to a slow start in the preseason game between the Los Angeles Kings and Boston Bruins but midway through the second period that all changed. There would be three total goals in less than a minute time but the Kings would be on the winning end of that scramble due to Quinton Byfield.

It was the young center who got the scoring started on a 2-on-1 break as Kevin Fiala would set him up for a beautiful one-timer.

Then less than 30 seconds after that Byfield once again would beat the Bruins' goaltender on a rebound that would give the Kings a 2-0 lead.

Los Angeles Kings are hoping for a big season from Quinton Byfield

The Los Angeles Kings are going to be looking for their offense to improve and the hope is that a younger group of players can be the difference makers with their development. This group includes Alex Turcotte, Alex Laferriere but Quinton Byfield is the most important piece to their success.

After only eight goals in 93 games in the two previous seasons, Byfield would play 80 games and finish with 20 goals and 35 assists this past year. This was a great step in his development but it feels like he is just scratching the surface of what he can do for this team and that is why expectations are as high as they are for him.

This season will be a little different for the former second overall pick as he is being moved back to center after playing on the wing last season. However, the early returns have been positive as Byfield has looked very comfortable back in the middle of the line this preseason with Kevin Fiala and Warren Foegele and is building great momentum heading into the regular season.
