This past Thursday night (May 7) was a bad game in the opening frame in the first period on the ice and on the scoreboard for head coach Andrew Lord and the Ontario Reign. The Reign and Lord fell behind early in the game on the scoreboard in the opening frame in the first period, and were never able to recover on the ice in the middle frame in the second period yesterday.

The 6-2 loss on the scoreboard in the Pacific Division in the postseason in the playoffs yesterday vs. the Coachella Valley Firebirds sets up a winner-take-all Game 5 this upcoming weekend on Saturday night (May 9) in Southern California.

Ontario did get off to a decent start on the scoreboard in the opening frame in the game in the first period yesterday vs. Coachella Valley on the road. Jack Hughes scored the game's first goal on the scoreboard in the opening frame in the first period yesterday, giving the Reign the early 1-0 lead on the road.

Hughes even scored on the game's first shot on the stat sheet yesterday for the Reign in the opening frame in the first period.

Shortly thereafter, the Firebirds took control of the game on the ice and on the scoreboard in the opening frame in the first period. Coachella Valley scored the game's next four goals on the scoreboard in the middle frame in the second period and in the final frame yesterday against goalie Pheonix Copley and the Reign.

Ontario went into the second intermission after the middle frame in the second period yesterday down by a comfortable score of 3-1 vs. Coachella Valley. The Reign did get one goal back on the scoreboard in the final frame in the third period, with Nikita Alexandrov joining Hughes among Ontario's goal scorers on the stat sheet yesterday on the road.

But two empty net goals defensively after the Reign pulled Copley to the bench yesterday sealed the game on the scoreboard for Coachella Valley by a scoring margin of 6-2.

The Reign never found traction on the ice or on the scoreboard yesterday after the game's first goal was scored by Hughes early in the game in the opening frame in the first period on the road. Ontario needs to play better in the zone defensively and in front of the net in front of Copley (or whoever the starting goalie is next game in Game 5 for the team).
