This has been a busy week for the Ontario Reign, building out the roster for this upcoming season with multiple signings coming in this past few days. Late this week, the Reign signed a trio of players to add more depth and young talent to the roster, including forward Ryan O'Hara and goalies Mattias Sholl and Owen Flores.
The Reign officially announced the signings of O'Hara, Sholl, and Flores on a post on social media on Thursday. All three players signed to the Reign on one-year AHL contracts.
O'Hara is the most intriguing new skater of this group of players who signed with the Reign late this week. He had an impactful season with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits in the ECHL this past season, with 15 goals, 27 assists, and 42 total points in 72 games played.
New additions strengthen the Ontario Reign's forward and goaltending depth
He boasted a successful NCAA career at Bowling Green, registering 36 goals, 53 assists, and 89 total points in 131 games played. O'Hara was the captain for the Falcons in the 2024-25 season.
This upcoming season, O'Hara gives the Reign more forward depth who could compete for a role in the bottom six on the roster.
Flores, meanwhile, gives the Reign some promising young goalie depth with real AHL upside. In limited appearances with the Rockford IceHogs this past season, Flores registered a 3-1-2 record, .928 save percentage, and a sparkling 1.98 goals-against average.
Most of Flores' time spent in the 2025-26 season was with the Indy Fuel in the ECHL.
Sholl is the familiar face returning to the Reign for another season in Ontario this fall. He played one game for the Reign this past season, and he spent the rest of the year playing alongside O'Hara with the Swamp Rabbits in Greenville. Sholl registered a save percentage north of .910 in 22 appearances with the Swamp Rabbits this past season.
His return gives the Reign more continuity and depth in goal for the upcoming 2026-27 season.
This trio of signings for the Reign won't make the biggest headlines, but it represents another key step for Ontario in building organizational depth this offseason. O'Hara gives another intriguing forward option up front, while Flores and Sholl add to the Reign's goaltending depth going into training camp and the preseason this fall.
