This time last week, the Los Angeles Kings saw their six-game win streak come to an end with a loss to the New Jersey Devils by a final score of 3-1. Since that game, the Los Angeles Kings have had three games and have continued their strong play as they have secured a point in all three games, which is impressive as all three games have been on the road.

They would run away with a 5-1 victory over the New York Rangers before losing to the Pittsburgh Penguins in overtime by a final score of 3-2. It was a game they should have probably won and unfortunately they are still looking for their first overtime win of the season in four chances.

The latest game on Thursday night was a back-and-forth contest with the Philadelphia Flyers. It was a game that every time the Kings got the lead, Philadelphia would answer shortly after. It wasn't until the third period that the Kings really were able to pull away and score four goals in the final period.

Even though the Kings are now 8-1-1 over the last 10 games and currently sitting in second place in the Pacific Division, it feels like people aren't fully bought into the idea that they could be a legitimate Stanley Cup contender. In two of the three power rankings this week, the Kings would actually drop slightly but still remain in the Top 10.

ESPN was the only publication that moved them up one spot and that could be due to the fact that they publish their power rankings on Friday so would be taking into account the performance against the Flyers.

Among the three power rankings, NHL.com had the Los Angeles Kings the lowest as they dropped them two spots from last week's ranking of seven and down to nine.
