The Los Angeles Kings saw their win streak end against the New Jersey Devils, in a 3-1 loss, but one loss shouldn't dismiss what they were able to do over the past few weeks. They would end up winning six straight games, which was the longest current win streak in the league.
However, it wasn't just the fact that they won six straight but the teams they were able to win against. This win streak included victories over the Winnipeg Jets, Minnesota Wild, and Dallas Stars, three teams who are either leading their division or near the top.
Even though the win streak ended against the Devils, the Kings played pretty well and kept it close with New Jersey. There were a few mistakes made, particularly in the third period, that the Devils were able to capitalize on and that was the deciding factor in the game.
While the Kings still have five straight road games, these are definitely winnable games and it wouldn't be surprising to see them put together another four-game win streak before a pivotal game against the Washington Capitals to end the road trip.
Some of these rankings came out before the Kings played the New Jersey Devils but a loss like this shouldn't drop them too far. In fact, Bleacher Report gave them their highest rankings of the season across all three as they had them at number six this week.
If the Kings can put this loss behind them and win three or four of their final five games on this road trip, they should remain inside the Top 10 as they return home for two more games before the end of 2024.
